Book Review: What Would a Holy Woman Do by Wendy Watson Nelson

“What Would a Holy Woman Do?”, written by Wendy Watson Nelson, is this little tiny book that packs a powerful message.  What would happen if you looked at each choice, each moment of your day to evaluate if you were acting as a holy woman would?

Sister Nelson asks several friends to take a challenge to do just that and then shares the results that each woman had.  But better than reading about someone else’s experience is actually doing it yourself.  You don’t have to buy the book to take the challenge to be more purposeful in the choices you’re making and the way you’re spending your time . . . to make it more like a holy woman would do.  But the book will help you feel the desire to take the challenge and follow through with it.

I took the challenge myself with results that surprised me.  I expected it would make me spend more time reading scriptures and studying the gospel.  But really the question affected everything I did.  It had me making better eating choices, spending less time on trivial things and more time on the important stuff, and even changed the way I looked at housework.

It’s one I will keep on my bookshelf and refer to over and over again.  In fact, with the new year coming up, I’m ready to take the challenge again and set myself up for a great start to the year!
