christmas break bucket list

I feel like the best part of Christmas isn’t necessarily Christmas Day itself.  I love the 2 week break from school.  There’s something about it, especially if Christmas is close to the start of the break, like it is this year.  Once Christmas Day is done, it’s like you have this unreal period of time that doesn’t happen anytime else.  The hustle and bustle is done and you can just truly relax and enjoy the time with your family.  So, with that in mind, I came up with a Christmas Break Bucket List for us this year.  A list of some things that we can do, or don’t have to do if we don’t want.  Things where we can spend some quality, time together, lazy time and otherwise to just enjoy being with family and making memories.

These are simple, cost little or no money and fun things to do during all those hours at home together:

  1. Drink hot chocolate – make it extra fun with toppings or mix-ins
  2. Watch movies – you could make it a marathon by choosing a movie and it’s sequels
  3. Have a pajama day
  4. Go for a hike or a family walk
  5. Do a puzzle together
  6. Play board games or card games
  7. Cook together – one on one with each child or all together
  8. Write thank you cards for those who gave you Christmas gifts
  9. Have a family sleepover all together on the family room floor
  10. Turn the music up for some karaoke or a dance party
  11. Set goals for the new year
  12. Build something (take your pick:  legos, blocks, snow, etc)
  13. Drive around and look at Christmas lights
  14. Give service together (deliver treats, make & give away blessing bags for the homeless, or volunteer at a food bank)
  15. Have a family talent show (show off things you’ve learned during the past year)

However you spend your time this Christmas break, try to spend less time on your phone and just soak up the hours with your family!
