Day 9 of the Clutter Free Challenge was a day off for me! It was the dining table. Since our only table is the kitchen table, we use it 3 times a day to eat on which means it doesn’t get cluttered. Before we eat, everything is cleared away and its clean again.
Day 10: Today was the day I have been dreading . . . kitchen counters. In fact, the state of my kitchen counters is probably what led me to start this challenge in the first place. They’re bad. So bad that I’m really embarrassed to show my before pictures. The kitchen is our central hub, the place where I work on projects and my island becomes a home for all the things that I’m either working on or that I don’t know where to put. And then the kids add their stuff on top of all that. But, 10 days into this, I’m just a little committed, so please don’t think too horribly of me 🙂
Now that it is all organized and things have found new homes, I put a beautiful hurricane in the middle of my island. It’s a candle holder I’ve had for a while and has rotated around because I love it but could never find a place to put it. I’d love to find some gorgeous silk flowers to put in it I even went looking today but couldn’t find the perfect thing. In the meantime, I’m hoping that having something beautiful there will help me keep the space clean. I left the kids cups on the counter since that’s really where they will be kept and my calendar on the island – because I have to be realistic and those things will continue to need a place for the space to be liveable. Really, I’m thrilled with the transformation and really hope I can keep it the way it is.
