Day 5 of the Clutter Free Challenge is books and magazines. Oh, this is a sensitive issue with me! I love my books! Books make me happy! In fact, sometimes I just sit in the living room and look at my bookshelves and feel content. I do re-read my books multiple times and don’t keep any books that I wouldn’t read a 2nd time. One of the things I want to do is have a great book collection of good booksthat my kids and grandkids can borrow from – just like my grandma has for her grandkids. So, I have my bookshelves and when I get new books I have to make room for them. Just a couple of days ago, I reorganized a bit to be able to fit more in.
In the living room, we also keep the kids books in 2 baskets next to my bookshelves and a basket on a small table is where we keep library books. A pretty good system that just needed a little cleaning up today.
Magazines: The only magazines we get are church magazines. The kids’ church magazines and the easy reader books are kept in my room so I can read to the kids from the magazines and kids can read to me from the books while the younger kids are napping or before bedtime. That has gotten pretty messy, though.
So, today, I cleaned up the easy readers and left only 2 magazines. I went through all the other magazines and pulled out what I wanted to keep (activity pages, etc) and filed them in a binder for future use.
